"Transparency and accountability have been ensured in the process of converting one crore family cards into smart cards. As a result, there will be no more inconsistencies," he said while speaking as the chief guest at a programme at PWD Colony Auditorium in the city, said a press release.
Tipu said keeping in mind the poor and helpless people who live below the poverty line, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina decided to give one crore family cards to provide daily necessities at a low price.

TCB family cards to be turned into smart cards
The government has started the process of converting some 10 million family cards, which were previously given to the people of low-income groups to buy essentials from the Trading Corporation of Bangladesh (TCB) shops, into smart cards.
Commerce Minister Tipu Munshi said this while speaking as the chief guest at the inauguration of the second phase of sales of goods by the TCB in the capital's Uttara on Monday.

Distribution of TCB’s smart card started from the PWD Colony Auditorium in the capital’s Malibagh area. Commerce Minister Tipu Munshi inaugurated the free distribution of TCB’s one crore family cards into smart cards organized by Trading Corporation of Bangladesh-TCB and sale of TCB’s products at affordable prices to the card holders.
While speaking as the chief guest at the event, he said that the conversion of one crore family cards of Trading Corporation of Bangladesh-TCB into smart cards will ensure transparency and accountability as well as eliminate inconsistencies.

শুরু হচ্ছে টিসিবির স্মার্ট পরিবার কার্ড বিতরণ, পণ্য বিক্রিও শুরু
আগামীকাল বৃহস্পতিবার সারা দেশে ট্রেডিং করপোরেশন অব বাংলাদেশের (টিসিবি) স্মার্ট পরিবার কার্ড বিতরণ শুরু হচ্ছে। সারা দেশে ফ্যামিলি কার্ডধারী এক কোটি নিম্ন আয়ের পরিবারের কাছে পণ্য বিক্রি করে সংস্থাটি। এই পরিবার কার্ডধারীরাই এখন স্মার্ট কার্ডের আওতায় আসবেন।
এ ছাড়া ধারাবাহিক কর্মসূচি হিসেবে একই দিন নভেম্বর মাসের পণ্য বিক্রি কার্যক্রম শুরু হচ্ছে বলে টিসিবি এক সংবাদ বিজ্ঞপ্তিতে জানিয়েছে।
